Beginning in 2026, the California Journalism Educators of the Year Awards will be administered through the Journalism Education Collaborative (JOUR•Ed), the California Press Foundation’s statewide collaborative for journalism educators and students. This transition ensures that recognition of teaching excellence is fully integrated into the educator community. The awards will be presented at the California Press Foundation’s annual journalism symposium later this year.
The Educators of the Year Awards recognize exceptional teaching at the high school, community college and university levels. Nominees should have made an impact beyond their program, their campus, their community and their organization.
We invite you to nominate an educator who exemplifies innovation, mentorship and dedication to student success.
Nomination deadline: May 30, 2026
